[ kogami is absolutely sure that when he left jyuto sleeping in their shared bed, he was most definitely a (naked) person, and jyuto is not the only one startled when what comes bouncing out, practically, when he sits on the bed, freshly showered with a towel around his shoulders.
for a moment, man and supremely frightened bunny stare at each other, jyuto's glasses on the pillow. kogami knows two things: jyuto is not a pet person, and him leaving his glasses behind to go on unannounced walkabouts is a statistical impossibility.
[ Oh god. Is it him now? They'd had a day like this where it had been Kogami, but Jyuto hadn't imagined him to ever be in this predicament. It really could be anyone. The rabbit seems to be coming to terms with what's happening and while watching Kogami, Jyuto stretches his front and back legs so that he splays across the top of the comforter. A squint. His nose wiggles unhappily, and he looks at the big glasses that don't fit him anymore. Then back up. His head sinks between his front legs, chin against the bed. ]
[ he's so... he's so cute. look at those little paws, the tiny wiggle of that tiny nose, the way he so balefully looks at his glasses -- kogami carefully takes it, folds it and sets it on the nightstand before reaching out, fingers gently rubbing at a paw.
it doesn't take much for kogami to notice that jyuto's clearly unhappy with the turn of events, and so he leans down, giant as he is, to press a soft kiss between his ears. ]
Don't worry, it'll only last for awhile. I'll take care of you.
[ Oh. He's being so romantic about it. Jyuto shuts his rabbit eyes as he's kissed, Kogami's lips massive and plush against the top of his head. His ears twitch around them, defeated by them. Deciding that there's no helping this, he opens his eyes to watch Kogami when he pulls back, and then looks around the room like he's trying to figure out how to proceed with the start of his day. He's still scheduled to work later. How is he supposed to call in when he can't even speak? He releases a bunny sigh and hops across the expanse of bedsheets that feel like they go on forever— over to his communicator atop the end table on his side of the bed. When he gets there, he levels his eyes and stares Kogami down intently because he needs him to make the call for him. A small paw reaches to gently pat the screen of the device. His nose wiggles faster, his attempt at communicating that this is a priority to him. ]
[ kogami pauses, watching jyuto come to terms with his much smaller, very much furrier self. at least, up until the bunny very obviously pats the screen of his communicator. kogami, who's pretty much opted to go shirtless save for his pants, simply reaches over to the communicator, scoops the rabbit up with his other hand, and lays back against the pillows.
he sets jyuto on his chest now, lifting the communicator so that he and jyuto can see. he dials it, and puts the communicator on speakerphone. ]
[ It's frustrating to be in this situation, but at least Kogami catches on fast. Jyuto listens to the ringing, antsy while waddling across the plane of Kogami's chest and trying to find somewhere comfortable to sit. The dip down the middle is the easiest fit, and he finds his tiny legs practically sucked into Kogami's pectoral cleavage, something that's even more visually distracting at the size he's at. He might get lost in here. Not that he'd complain, but as it currently stands—
"Iruma? That you?" It's the voice of one of Jyuto's coworkers.
Jyuto watches Kogami as he nestles into his chest, unsure of how good a liar he is. Assuming he's going to lie. His eyes are expectant, curious as to what Kogami will say, but trusting him enough not to fuck it up. ]
[ that sounds one hell of a lot better than friend, right? and he chooses that name because the name 'kogami' probably runs the risk of being revealed as someone who probably doesn't work there, if someone asks deeply enough -- even if jyuto had been thorough in the whole background check thing. ]
Jyuto can't come to work today. Turns out, his moonblessing turned him into a rabbit.
[ "A rabbit? Oh!" and then there's chuckling along the line, but oddly enough not unkind. "Ah, moonblessed business, yeah. But just in case, we're going to need to see proof." ]
Yeah, sure. Gimme a minute.
[ good that the moon knights don't take him at face value. and so he's gently nudging at jyuto: ] Hey... you okay with showing them?
[ Shinya. It's a name he recalls upon first meeting, but hasn't been put to use since. Mentioned once, then gone. Jyuto gazes in rabbit silence, hearing but not quite listening to what Kogami says. He'd called himself his roommate, which is untrue but not unappreciated.
Before he knows it, he tunes back in, hearing something about needing proof. Jyuto reaches to take the initiative himself, to push the little speaker phone icon on the screen but his bunny nails slide down the surface of the communicator and hang up on the other moon knights instead. Oh no— ]
[ jyuto is actually really, really adorable when he's focused and listening, and but kogami makes a soft noise when he accidentally disconnects the call.
he calls again, but this time flicks it to video mode and turns the screen so that it's focused on jyuto. ]
Sorry about that. You can ask him to do whatever, to prove it's him.
[ “We thought we lost you for a second. Iruma, that you in there?”
Jyuto huffs, disliking that he’s being watched for response. He thinks of something unusual for a rabbit to do so that he isn’t asked to do anything else after, and hops away from the camera, over to the end table again. The moon knights watching the video call look at Kogami with some skepticism and confusion, but then Jyuto comes back into view, flinging his moon knight badge towards the display with his teeth and paws. His coworkers erupt with laughter, and Jyuto’s ears twitch in annoyance.
“Okay, loud and clear. We’ll send the day’s report to your email later tonight.” “Who’re you calling?” A female moon knight walks through the back of the station. “It’s Iruma and his roommate, Shinya, he said.” “Why doesn’t he got a shirt on?” “Hey, he can hear you. Quit being rude, we’re not muted.” “Hi, Shinya. Why don’t you have a shirt on?” “We’re going now, we’ll see you tomorrow, Iruma. Have fun with your roommate.” ]
[ kogami stifles a soft chuckle at the way jyuto so crankily, practically tosses the badge at the screen in an imperious bid not to perform tricks. it's just like him, really, and he stifles the urge to pet him until he turns the communicator off, smiling at the questions.
he's careful not to let his face be seen, even if his bare chest is in full view, and as he flicks it off he can't help a smile, picking jyuto up and setting him back on his chest as he lays back against the pillows.
and yes, he's petting those soft, floppy ears now. ]
[ Everything feels about 10x more relaxed once the video has been shut off. Jyuto's large, dark eyes stop squinting, his ears easing from their flattened state as he's pet. Honestly? It feels good. It's the equivalent of snuggling for an animal, and he likes having Kogami's attention on him even if he's unable to have a conversation. Hopefully he isn't too boring to be around as a rabbit.
His coworkers are a lot, but they aren't unpleasant to be around. He isn't sure how he can convey this without the words, so he nuzzles his face into the side of Kogami's index finger, looking up at him fondly and wiggling his nose. He's slowly coming to realize that this form is powerful. He can utilize his cuteness to monopolize all of Kogami's attention, and then deny accountability after he turns back into a human. Deciding this is the plan, he hops his way further up Kogami's body, to sit right beneath his clavicle on his dog tags. He flops on his side, experimenting, wondering if Kogami will find him irresistible and adorable. ]
[ that experiment is a success, because kogami finds his little furry, conniving, adorable, affectionate self incredibly adorable and irresistible. jyuto is so small, so cute when his ears ease back, and he's running light fingers up and down jyuto's belly when he flops, chuckling quietly.
and no, he can't resist pressing another kiss between his ears again, this time lingering. ]
[ Kogami can tell? Jyuto hadn't realized just how squishy his belly actually is until now, when Kogami's finger tips run up the fluffy fur of it. It's more sensitive than when he's a human, and he curls around it reflexively, eyes shutting when Kogami kisses him between his ears once more. Ah, his manipulation tactics prove to be successful. After Kogami asks him his question, Jyuto noses up against Kogami's chin and he gives him a few bunny kisses, quick little licks that say yes. Then, he turns, waddling down the plane of Kogami's chest and abdomen.
Jyuto wiggles his ass and tail, before hopping off of the bed and onto the floor. He looks behind himself to Kogami like he expects him to follow, then hops over to the door that leads out of the bedroom. He's perfectly aware that if he stays here, Kogami might forget about breakfast, so he'll lead them there to make sure he doesn't get too distracted to eat! ]
[ did he just wiggle that cute little bobtail? kogami can't help but stare, and marvel at just how jyuto manages to be even saucier as a small furry animal than he is his glorious full person.
but no, kogami is led towards him, opening the door for the rabbit to let him out as he catches just what he really wants. breakfast, right; before they both forget. careful to scoop up the bunny into his hand before he accidentally steps on him, he carefully sets jyuto on the dining table. ]
So... I'm guessing it's carrots and vegetables for you? Maybe a few good chunks of broccoli.
[ Excellent. Kogami scooping him up spares him from the need to adventure through the entirety of the apartment, a space that feels too big for him at this size. When he's placed on the dining table, he walks closer to the edge like he wants to see around Kogami, what else he might have to offer. His neck is outstretched, two eyes large, curious and trying. He sniffs and sniffs, trying to to let Kogami know that he wants to know his options before he approves the obvious go-to. ]
[ oh, look at him again, wiggling his nose and sniffing like he wants more, and kogami looks in the grocery bag of vegetables he had bought, bringing it over to the dining table so jyuto can inspect it closely.
there's spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, cabbage, and this he lays out neatly for jyuto, together with the broccoli and the carrots. ]
Well? See anything you like, little rabbit? Or maybe a little of all? Put a paw on the ones you like.
[ Behold, his bunny feast. Jyuto watches as Kogami lays out each vegetable for him to see. When he reaches the end of the list, Jyuto decides that he wants them all, and he flounders and taps his front legs one at a time along the line of the display as if to play a C-scale on a xylophone. All of them! But also, what about dessert? He really wants some grapes or sliced apple. To try and press for this, he taps his front legs one more time down the scale of vegetables and then hops along to the edge of the table closest to the fridge, sitting straight up to face it on his hind legs and then wiggling his front paws in its general direction. ]
[ does jyuto want the fridge? based on that, he's pretty sure his furry little glutton wants a little bit of everything and then some -- and, afraid that jyuto might fall over and down (it's a long way down, baby), he simply scoops him up again and takes him to the fridge, opening to where he keeps his fruit on the shelves. ]
[ Kogami is so receptive, he makes things too easy for Jyuto. Not being able talk seemed as if it'd pose far more of an obstacle than it actually does, and Jyuto rides along in the nook of Kogami's arm, settling against him as the fridge door is opened, its contents presented. It's amusing— like this, he feels spoiled and almost kingly, despite his rabbit shape. He's definitely going to have to poke some fun at Kogami for this when he's able to, a vessel to his bunny majesty.
His eyes follow along the shelves for grapes. In specific, he's craving some green ones, so when he happens to spot some, his ears perk forward in excitement. Quickly, he looks between Kogami and the grapes insistently, hoping he'll catch on without him having to wiggle his paws or getting too showy about it. Pull through, Kogami. So observant, after all! ]
[ but of course, kogami isn't the type to make things easy for jyuto for long -- this is a large part of why they work, that kogami isn't the type to be overly predictable for a long time. and really, what's the point of carrying his bunny around if he can't tease him? ]
Hmmm?
[ it's so fascinating to see how excited he is, and he gives jyuto a little jiggle, pretending not to notice. ]
[ Jyuto looks at him, fucking offended. For a moment he can't tell if Kogami is not meeting Jyuto's expectations, if he's actually less intelligent and insightful than he'd assumed he'd be. After a moment of studying his face, though, he realizes that Kogami is only feigning an inability to discern what it is he wants from the fridge. He makes a convincing actor.
Jyuto's ears flatten again and he squirms around in Kogami's arm like an unhappy baby when he's jiggled. No, not more vegetables! He scrapes his little nails against the side of Kogami's rib, digging at it as if he's trying to burrow in and punish him for his sass though it far from hurts enough to draw blood. ]
[ jyuto is so adorable when he's affronted, and kogami laughs when he squirms around to scratch him with those tiny paws, and he reaches in to pluck a single grape for him, holding it just a little out of reach. ]
Or is this it?
[ a juicy, plump grape, perfectly round and perfect for a rabbit's sweet tooth. ]
[ Is this how rabbits always see grapes? Jyuto stops what he's doing almost immediately when the sweet, fruity fragrance wafts and brushes his bunny nose. Sniffing and distracted from continuing Kogami's punishment, he eyeballs the grape, its heavenly shape and plump form an ambrosia to his current state of physicality. Very interested in it, he looks at Kogami and back to the grape, long ears springing back forward and mouth parting so that his front teeth, white and strangely taken care of, peek through the gap.
He wants the grape, yes... please feed him that grape. ]
[ kogami makes a soft, thoughtful little noise, keeping him tucked in the crook of his arm before peeling off a small bit for jyuto's excited questing. it's less than a fifth of it, and he decides to feed it to him with forefinger and thumb. ]
